إنجيل القدّيس لوقا 35-25:14
وَكانَ جُمُوعٌ كَثِيرُونَ سَائِرِينَ مَعَهُ، فٱلْتَفَتَ وَقالَ لَهُم:
إِنْ يَأْتِ أَحَدٌ إِليَّ وَلا يُبْغِضْ أَبَاهُ، وَأُمَّهُ، وٱمْرَأَتَهُ، وَأَوْلادَهُ، وَإِخْوَتَهُ، وَأَخَوَاتِهِ، حَتَّى نَفْسَهُ أَيْضًا، لا يَقْدِرْ أَنْ يَكُونَ لي تِلْمِيذًا.
وَمَنْ لا يَحْمِلْ صَلِيبَهُ وَيَتَبعْنِي، لا يَقْدِرْ أَنْ يَكُونَ لي تِلْمِيذًا.
فَمَنْ مِنْكُم يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَبْنِيَ بُرْجًا، وَلا يَجْلِسُ أَوَّلاً فَيَحْسُبُ نَفَقَتَهُ، إِنْ كَانَ عِنْدَهُ مَا يَكْفِي لإِكْمَالِهِ؟
لِئَلاَّ يَضَعَ الأَسَاسَ وَيَعْجَزَ عَنْ إِتْمَامِهِ، فَيَبْدَأَ جَمِيعُ النَّاظِرينَ يَسْخَرُونَ مِنْهُ
وَيَقُولُون: هذَا الرَّجُلُ بَدَأَ بِبِنَاءٍ وَعَجِزَ عَنْ إِتْمَامِهِ.
أَوْ أَيُّ مَلِكٍ يَنْطَلِقُ إِلى مُحَارَبَةِ مَلِكٍ آخَرَ مِثْلِهِ، وَلا يَجْلِسُ أَوَّلاً وَيُفَكِّرُ هَلْ يَقْدِرُ أَنْ يُقَاوِمَ بِعَشَرَةِ آلافٍ ذَاكَ الآتِيَ إِلَيْهِ بِعِشْرِينَ أَلْفًا؟
وَإِلاَّ فَمَا دَامَ ذَاكَ بَعِيدًا عَنْهُ، يُرْسِلُ إِلَيْهِ وَفْدًا يَلْتَمِسُ مَا يَؤُولُ إِلى السَّلام.
هكذَا إِذًا، كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْكُم لا يَتَخَلَّى عَنْ كُلِّ مُقْتَنَيَاتِهِ، لا يَقْدِرُ أَنْ يَكُونَ لِي تِلْمِيذًا.
جَيِّدٌ هُوَ المِلْح، وَلكِنْ إِذَا فَسُدَ المِلْح، فَبِمَاذَا يُعَادُ إِلَيْهِ طَعْمُهُ؟
فَلا يَصْلُحُ لِلأَرْضِ وَلا لِلْمِزْبَلة، فَيُطْرَحُ خَارِجًا. مَنْ لَهُ أُذُنَانِ سَامِعَتَانِ فَلْيَسْمَعْ
English:
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 23:1-12.
Jesus spoke to the crowds and to his disciples,
saying, “The scribes and the Pharisees have taken their seat on the chair of Moses.
Therefore, do and observe all things whatsoever they tell you, but do not follow their example. For they preach but they do not practice.
They tie up heavy burdens (hard to carry) and lay them on people’s shoulders, but they will not lift a finger to move them.
All their works are performed to be seen. They widen their phylacteries and lengthen their tassels.
They love places of honor at banquets, seats of honor in synagogues,
greetings in marketplaces, and the salutation ‘Rabbi.’
As for you, do not be called ‘Rabbi.’ You have but one teacher, and you are all brothers.
Call no one on earth your father; you have but one Father in heaven.
Do not be called ‘Master’; you have but one master, the Messiah.
The greatest among you must be your servant.
Whoever exalts himself will be humbled; but whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
Spanish:
Evangelio según San Mateo 23,1-12.
Entonces Jesús dijo a la multitud y a sus discípulos:
“Los escribas y fariseos ocupan la cátedra de Moisés;
ustedes hagan y cumplan todo lo que ellos les digan, pero no se guíen por sus obras, porque no hacen lo que dicen.
Atan pesadas cargas y las ponen sobre los hombros de los demás, mientras que ellos no quieren moverlas ni siquiera con el dedo.
Todo lo hacen para que los vean: agrandan las filacterias y alargan los flecos de sus mantos;
les gusta ocupar los primeros puestos en los banquetes y los primeros asientos en las sinagogas,
ser saludados en las plazas y oírse llamar ‘mi maestro’ por la gente.
En cuanto a ustedes, no se hagan llamar ‘maestro’, porque no tienen más que un Maestro y todos ustedes son hermanos.
A nadie en el mundo llamen ‘padre’, porque no tienen sino uno, el Padre celestial.
No se dejen llamar tampoco ‘doctores’, porque sólo tienen un Doctor, que es el Mesías.
Que el más grande de entre ustedes se haga servidor de los otros,
porque el que se ensalza será humillado, y el que se humilla será ensalzado”.
