إنجيل القدّيس متّى 28-24:16
حينَئِذٍ قَالَ يَسُوعُ لِتَلامِيْذِهِ: مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَتْبَعَنِي، فَلْيَكْفُرْ بِنَفْسِهِ ويَحْمِلْ صَلِيْبَهُ ويَتْبَعْنِي،
لأَنَّ مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يُخَلِّصَ نَفْسَهُ يَفْقِدُهَا، ومَنْ فَقَدَ نَفْسَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي يَجِدُهَا.
فَمَاذَا يَنْفَعُ الإِنْسَانَ لَوْ رَبِحَ العَالَمَ كُلَّهُ وخَسِرَ نَفْسَهُ ؟ أَو مَاذَا يُعْطِي الإِنْسَانُ بَدَلاً عَنْ نَفْسِهِ؟
فَإِنَّ ٱبْنَ الإِنْسَانِ سَوْفَ يَأْتِي في مَجْدِ أَبِيْه، مَعَ مَلائِكَتِهِ، وحينَئِذٍ يُجَازِي كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ بِحَسَبِ أَعْمَالِهِ.
أَلحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكُم: إِنَّ بَعْضًا مِنَ القَائِمِينَ هُنَا لَنْ يَذُوقُوا المَوت، حَتَّى يَرَوا ٱبْنَ الإِنْسَانِ آتِيًا في مَلَكُوتِهِ
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 8:11-13.
The Pharisees came forward and began to argue with him, seeking from him a sign from heaven to test him.
He sighed from the depth of his spirit and said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Amen, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.”
Then he left them, got into the boat again, and went off to the other shore.
