إنجيل القدّيس متّى 16-13:5
قالَ الربُّ يَسوع: أَنْتُم مِلْحُ الأَرض. فَإِذَا فَسَدَ المِلْحُ فَأَيُّ شَيءٍ يُمَلِّحُهُ؟ إِنَّهُ لا يَعُودُ يَصْلُحُ لِشَيء، إِلاَّ لأَنْ يُطْرَحَ في الخَارِجِ وتَدُوسَهُ النَّاس. أَنْتُم نُورُ العَالَم. لا يُمْكِنُ أَنْ تُخْفَى مَدِينَةٌ مَبْنِيَّةٌ عَلَى جَبَل. ولا يُوْقَدُ سِرَاجٌ ويُوضَعُ تَحْتَ المِكْيَال، بَلْ عَلى المَنَارَة، فَيُضِيءُ لِكُلِّ مَنْ في البَيْت. هكَذَا فَلْيُضِئْ نُورُكُم أَمَامَ النَّاس، لِيَرَوا أَعْمَالَكُمُ ٱلصَّالِحَة، ويُمَجِّدُوا أَبَاكُمُ الَّذي في السَّمَاوات
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 7:1-13.
When the Pharisees with some scribes who had come from Jerusalem gathered around Jesus, they observed that some of his disciples ate their meals with unclean, that is, unwashed, hands. (For the Pharisees and, in fact, all Jews, do not eat without carefully washing their hands, keeping the tradition of the elders. And on coming from the marketplace they do not eat without purifying themselves. And there are many other things that they have traditionally observed, the purification of cups and jugs and kettles (and beds).) So the Pharisees and scribes questioned him, “Why do your disciples not follow the tradition of the elders but instead eat a meal with unclean hands?” He responded, “Well did Isaiah prophesy about you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me; In vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines human precepts.’ You disregard God’s commandment but cling to human tradition.” He went on to say, “How well you have set aside the commandment of God in order to uphold your tradition! For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and ‘Whoever curses father or mother shall die.’ Yet you say, ‘If a person says to father or mother, “Any support you might have had from me is qorban”‘ (meaning, dedicated to God), you allow him to do nothing more for his father or mother. You nullify the word of God in favor of your tradition that you have handed on. And you do many such things.”
لَمَّا رأَى يَسُوعُ الجُمُوعَ صَعِدَ إِلى الجَبَل، وجَلَسَ فَدَنا مِنْهُ تَلاميذُهُ،
وفَتَحَ فاهُ يُعَلِّمُهُم قَائِلاً:
طُوبى لِلْمَسَاكِينِ بِالرُّوح، لأَنَّ لَهُم مَلَكُوتَ السَّمَاوَات.
طُوبى لِلْوُدَعَاء، لأَنَّهُم سَيَرِثُونَ الأَرض.
طُوبى لِلْحَزَانى، لأَنَّهُم سَيُعَزَّون.
طُوبى لِلْجِيَاعِ والعِطَاشِ إِلى البِرّ، لأَنَّهُم سَيُشْبَعُون.
طُوبى لِلْرُّحَمَاء، لأَنَّهُم سَيُرْحَمُون.
طُوبى لأَنْقِيَاءِ القُلُوب، لأَنَّهُم سَيُعَايِنُونَ الله.
طُوبى لِفَاعِلي السَّلام، لأَنَّهُم سَيُدْعَونَ أَبْناءَ الله.
طُوبى لِلْمُضْطَهَدِينَ مِنْ أَجْلِ البِرّ، لأَنَّ لَهُم مَلَكُوتَ السَّماوات.
طُوبى لَكُم إِذَا عَيَّرُوكُم وٱضْطَهَدُوكُم، وٱفْتَرَوا عَلَيْكُم كُلَّ سُوءٍ مِنْ أَجْلي.
إِفْرَحُوا وٱبْتَهِجُوا، لأَنَّ أَجْرَكُم عَظِيمٌ في السَّمَاوات، فَهكَذا ٱضْطَهَدُوا الأَنْبِيَاءَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُم
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 6:53-56.
After making the crossing to the other side of the sea, Jesus and his disciples came to land at Gennesaret and tied up there.
As they were leaving the boat, people immediately recognized him.
They scurried about the surrounding country and began to bring in the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was.
Whatever villages or towns or countryside he entered, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak; and as many as touched it were healed.
ومتى جاءَ ابنُ الإنسان في مجدهِ، وجميع الملائكة معهُ، يجلسُ على عرش مجده. وتُجمَع لديه جميع الأمم، فيُميّز بعضهم من بعض، كما يُميّز الرّاعي الخِراف من الجداء. ويُقيم الخِراف عن يمينه والجداء عن شماله. حينئذٍ يقول الملكُ للذّين عن يمينه: تعالَوا، يا مُباركي أبي، رِثوا الملكوت المُعدَّ لكم منذ إنشاء العالم؛ لأنّي جُعتُ فأطعمتموني، وعطشتُ فسقيتموني، وكنتُ غريبًا فآويتموني، وعُريانًا فكسوتموني، ومريضًا فزرتموني، ومحبوسًا فأتيتُم إليَّ. حينئذٍ يُجيبُهُ الأبرار قائلين: يا ربّ، متى رأيناكَ جائعًا فأطعمناك، أو عطشانَ فسقيناك؟ ومتى رأيناكَ غريبًا فآويناك، أو عُريانًا فكَسَوناك؟ ومتى رأيناك مريضًا أو محبوسًا فأتينا إليك؟ فيُجيبُ الملكُ ويقول لهم: ألحقّ أقول لكم: كلّ ما عَمِلتُموهُ لأحد إخوتي هؤلاء الصِّغار، فليَ عَمِلتموه! ثم يقول للذّين عن شِماله: إذهبوا عنِّي، يا ملاعين، إلى النّار الأبديّة المُعدّة لإبليس وجنوده؛ لأنّي جُعتُ فمَا أطعمتموني، وعطشتُ فما سقيتموني، وكنتُ غريبًا فما آويتموني، وعُريانًا فما كَسَوتموني، ومريضًا ومحبوسًا فما زرتموني! حينئذٍ يُجيبُهُ هؤلاء أيضًا قائلين: يا ربّ، متى رأيناك جائعًا أو عطشانَ أو غريبًا أو مريضًا أو محبوسًا وما خدَمناك؟ حينئذٍ يُجيبهم قائلاً: الحقَّ أقول لكم: كلّ ما تعملوه لأحد هؤلاء الصِّغار، فلي لم تعملوه. ويذهب هؤلاء إلى العذاب الأبديّ، والأبرار إلى الحياة الأبديّة
أحد الأبرار والصّدّيقين هو “عيد جميع القدّيسين”، حسب التّقليد المارونيّ القديم. فهم الشّهود الحقيقيّون لحقيقة وجود الله وحبّه لنا، بالعيش والمثل أكثر منه من الكلام. قدّموا ذواتهم ذبيحةً ليسطع نور المسيح في العالم. “له أن ينمو ولهم أن ينقصوا”.فأصبحوا شفعاء لنا لدى الآب السّماويّ.والابن الوحيد والرّوح القدس. الثّالوث الأقدس الدّيان يوم الدّينونة بالعدل الإلٰهي. فإذا تأملنا جيّدًا في نصّي الرّسالة والإنجيل نلاحظ بوضوح تام الفكرة الرّئيسيّة وهي فكرة الدّينونة ومصير كلّ منّا حسب سلوكه، وتطبيقه قواعد الحياة المسيحيّة. فالرّبّ هو فاحص القلوب والكلى. يَعلم ضُعفنا ومَحبّتنا له، وهو الرّاعي والرّاعي يُميّز الخراف من الجداء وهٰذا حقٌّ مشروعٌ له. همّه كرامة الإنسان لذا شدّد في هٰذا النّصّ على أعمال الرّحمة المتجلّية في إطعام الجائع، إرواء العطشان، إيواء الغريب، إكساء العريان، ٱفتقاد المريض والسّجين. وفي مكان آخر قال: “أريد رحمةً لا ذبيحة”. أعمال الرّحمة هٰذه هي الميزان للدّينونة الأخيرة. فبقدر ما نمارسها تجاه المحتاجين والتّعساء بخاصّة بطريقة خفيّة “لا تعلم شمالك ما تصنعه يمينك” بقدر ما ننال الحياة الأبديّة بعد أن نسمع صوت الرّبّ قائلًا: “تعالوا، يا مباركي أبي، رثوا الملكوت المعدّ لكم منذ إنشاء العالم”. أمّا من يرفض هٰذه الأعمال ولا يمارسها فإنّه قد حكم على ذاته مُسبقًا بأنّه ملعون ويذهب إلى العذاب الأبديّ. أخي المؤمن لا طريقة ثالثة لهٰذه المعادلة. كن يقظًا وٱربح الملكوت وتذكّر ما قاله معلّم القدّيسين القدّيس نعمة الله الحرديني “الشّاطر يلي بيخلّص نفسو”. فليكن هٰذا الشّعار طريق خلاصٍ وقداسةٍ لك كما كان للقدّيس شربل، الّذي أصبح اليوم الطّبيبَ الشّافي والملجأ لكلّ مُحتاجٍ نفسًا وجسدًا. تبارك الرّبّ بأبراره وقدّيسيه ومؤمنيه السّاعين دومًا لمجد الآب والأبن والرّوح القدس
فقال له يسوع: إن كنت تستطيع أن تؤمن. كل شيء مستطاع للمؤمن مر 9: 23
عندما ذهب المرسل هدسون تايلور إلى الصين لأول مرة، كان على ظهر مركب، وبينما كانت السفينة تعبر مضايق “مالاكا” جاء القبطان إلى تايلور، إذ كان يعلم إيمانه وأنه يعرف كيف يصلي، وقال له: إنه لا توجد ريح، وفوق هذا يوجد تيار مائي قوي يحمل السفينة صوب جزيرة يسكنها آكلو لحوم البشر، وأضاف القبطان: أرجو أن تصلي لتهب الريح
فأجاب تايلور: سأصلي لو رفعت القلوع للريح. فضجر القبطان قائلاً: لو فعلت ذلك قبل أن تأتي الرياح فسيسخر مني البحارة. فأصرَّ تايلور على رفع القلوع قبل أن يصلي. ولما أذعن القبطان لرغبة تايلور، بدأ هدسون تايلور يصلي بإيمان، وبعد 45 دقيقة هبت الريح الشديدة ونجوا
قال وليم ماكدونالد: الإيمان لا يتمم عمله في دائرة الممكن، فلا مجد لله في إتمام ما يمكن إتمامه بشرياً، إنما الإيمان يبدأ حيث تنتهي قوة الإنسان
الشك يرى الصعوبات، أما الإيمان فيرى الطريق
الشك يحدق إلى الليل، أما الإيمان فيرى النهار
الشك يخاف أن يخطو خطوة، أما الإيمان فيحلق في الأعالي
الشك يتساءل مَنْ يصدق هذا؟ فيُجيب الإيمان أنا
وقال تشارلس ماكنتوش: الإيمان يُنزل الله إلى دائرة العمل ولذلك لايصعب عليه شيء، لا بل هو يهزأ بالمستحيلات. يرى الإيمان أن الله يحل كل مشكلة وكل صعوبة. إنه يضع كل أمر أمام الله. فلا يهم الإيمان في كثير أو قليل إن كان المطلوب ستمائة ألف جنيه أو ستمائة مليون، فإنه يعرف أن الله قادر على كل شيء وهو يسد كلعوز، أما عدم الإيمان، فيسأل: كيف يمكن هذا؟ وكيف يمكن ذاك؟ فهو مملوء تساؤلات، أماالإيمان فله الجواب الأعظم الأوحد لألف كيف وكيف، وذلك الجواب هو الله
وقال أحد الأفاضل: جاء الإيمان متهللاً إلى غرفتي، فإذ كل الضيوف قد اختفت: الخوف والقلق والحزن والهم، ذَهَبتْ في حلكة الظلام، فتعجبت كيف كان ذاالسلام؟! فإذا الإيمان يُجيبني: ألا ترى إنهم لا يطيقون الحياة معي؟
عزيزي، ألا تشاركني مع الرسل الصلاة للرب يسوع قائلين: “زِد إيماننا! فقال الرب لو كان لكم إيمان مثل حبة خردل، لكنتم تقولون لهذه الجميزة: انقلعي وانغرسي في البحر فتطيعكم” لو 17: 5 ، 6
إنجيل القدّيس يوحنّا 17-13:13
قالَ الربُّ يَسوعُ لِتَلامِيذِهِ: أَنْتُم تَدْعُونَنِي المُعَلِّمَ والرَّبّ، وحَسَنًا تَقُولُون، لأَني كَذلِكَ
فَإِنْ كُنْتُ أَنَا الرَّبَّ والمُعَلِّمَ قَدْ غَسَلْتُ أَقْدَامَكُم، فَعَلَيْكُم أَنْتُم أَيْضًا أَنْ يَغْسِلَ بَعْضُكُم أَقْدَامَ بَعْض
لَقَدْ أَعْطَيْتُكُم مِثَالاً، لِتَفْعَلُوا أَنْتُم أَيْضًا كَمَا فَعَلْتُ أَنَا لَكُم
أَلحَقَّ ٱلحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكُم: لَيْسَ عَبْدٌ أَعْظَمَ مِنْ سَيِّدِهِ، ولا رَسُولٌ أَعْظَمَ مِنْ مُرْسِلِهِ
إِنْ عَلِمْتُمْ هذَا، وعَمِلْتُمْ بِهِ، فَطُوبَى لَكُم
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 6:30-34.
The Apostles gathered together with Jesus and reported all they had done and taught.
He said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” People were coming and going in great numbers, and they had no opportunity even to eat.
So they went off in the boat by themselves to a deserted place.
People saw them leaving and many came to know about it. They hastened there on foot from all the towns and arrived at the place before them.
When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.
إنجيل القدّيس لوقا 41-36:2
كَانَتْ هُنَاكَ (في أُرشليم) نَبِيَّةٌ طَاعِنَةٌ جِدًّا في أَيَّامِهَا، هِيَ حَنَّةُ بِنْتُ فَنُوئِيل، مِنْ سِبْطِ أَشِير، عَاشَتْ مَعَ زَوْجِهَا سَبْعَ سَنَوَاتٍ مُنْذُ بَكَارَتِهَا
ثُمَّ بَقِيَتْ أَرْمَلةً حتَّى الرَّابِعَةِ والثَّمَانِينَ مِنْ عُمْرِهَا، لا تُفَارِقُ الهَيْكَلَ مُتَعَبِّدَةً بِالصَّوْمِ والصَّلاةِ لَيْلَ نَهَار
فَحَضَرَتْ في تِلْكَ السَّاعَة، وأَخَذَتْ تُسَبِّحُ الرَّبّ، وتُحَدِّثُ عنِ الطِّفْلِ جَمِيعَ المُنْتَظِرينَ فِدَاءَ أُورَشَلِيم
ولَمَّا أَتَمَّ يُوسُفُ ومَريَمُ كُلَّ ما تَقتَضِيهِ شَرِيعَةُ الرَّبّ، عَادَا بِيَسُوعَ إِلى الجَلِيل، إِلى النَّاصِرَةِ مَدِينَتِهِم
وكانَ الطِّفْلُ يَكْبُرُ ويَتَقَوَّى ويَمْتَلِئُ حِكْمَة. وكَانَتْ نِعْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَيْه
وكانَ أَبَوَا يَسُوعَ يَذْهَبَانِ كُلَّ سَنَةٍ في عِيدِ الفِصْحِ إِلى أُورَشَليم
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 6:14-29.
King Herod heard about Jesus, for his fame had become widespread, and people were saying, «John the Baptist has been raised from the dead; That is why mighty powers are at work in him.»
Others were saying, “He is Elijah”; still others, “He is a prophet like any of the prophets.”
But when Herod learned of it, he said, “It is John whom I beheaded. He has been raised up.”
Herod was the one who had John arrested and bound in prison on account of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip, whom he had married.
John had said to Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”
Herodias harbored a grudge against him and wanted to kill him but was unable to do so.
Herod feared John, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man, and kept him in custody. When he heard him speak he was very much perplexed, yet he liked to listen to him.
She had an opportunity one day when Herod, on his birthday, gave a banquet for his courtiers, his military officers, and the leading men of Galilee.
Herodias’s own daughter came in and performed a dance that delighted Herod and his guests. The king said to the girl, “Ask of me whatever you wish and I will grant it to you.”
He even swore (many things) to her, “I will grant you whatever you ask of me, even to half of my kingdom.”
She went out and said to her mother, “What shall I ask for?” She replied, “The head of John the Baptist.”
The girl hurried back to the king’s presence and made her request, “I want you to give me at once on a platter the head of John the Baptist.”
The king was deeply distressed, but because of his oaths and the guests he did not wish to break his word to her.
So he promptly dispatched an executioner with orders to bring back his head. He went off and beheaded him in the prison.
He brought in the head on a platter and gave it to the girl. The girl in turn gave it to her mother.
When his disciples heard about it, they came and took his body and laid it in a tomb.
إنجيل القدّيس لوقا 35-22:2
ولَمَّا تَمَّتْ أَيَّامُ تَطْهِير يُوسُفَ ومَريَمَ بِحَسَبِ تَورَاةِ مُوسَى، صَعِدَا بِهِ إِلى أُورَشَلِيمَ لِيُقَدِّماهُ للرَّبّ، كمَا هُوَ مَكْتُوبٌ في شَرِيعَةِ الرَّبّ: «كُلُّ ذَكَرٍ فَاتِحِ رَحِمٍ يُدْعَى مُقَدَّسًا لِلرَّبّ»، ولِكَي يُقدِّمَا ذَبِيحَة، كَمَا وَرَدَ في شَرِيعَةِ الرَّبّ: «زَوجَيْ يَمَام، أَو فَرْخَيْ حَمَام». وكانَ في أُورَشَلِيمَ رَجُلٌ ٱسْمُهُ سِمْعَان. وكانَ هذَا الرَّجُلُ بَارًّا تَقِيًّا، يَنْتَظِرُ عَزَاءَ إِسْرَائِيل، والرُّوحُ القُدُسُ كانَ عَلَيْه. وكانَ الرُّوحُ القُدُسُ قَدْ أَوْحَى إِلَيْهِ أَنَّهُ لَنْ يَرَى المَوْتَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَرَى مَسِيحَ الرَّبّ. فجَاءَ بِدَافِعٍ مِنَ الرُّوحِ إِلى الهَيْكَل. وعِنْدَما دَخَلَ بِٱلصَّبِيِّ يَسُوعَ أَبَوَاه، لِيَقُومَا بِمَا تَفْرِضُهُ التَّورَاةُ في شَأْنِهِ، حَمَلَهُ سِمْعَانُ على ذِرَاعَيْه، وبَارَكَ اللهَ وقَال: «أَلآنَ تُطْلِقُ عَبْدَكَ بِسَلام، أَيُّهَا السَّيِّد، بِحَسَبِ قَولِكَ، لأَنَّ عَيْنَيَّ قَدْ أَبْصَرَتا خَلاصَكَ، أَلَّذِي أَعْدَدْتَهُ أَمَامَ الشُّعُوبِ كُلِّهَا، نُوْرًا يَنْجَلي لِلأُمَم، ومَجْدًا لِشَعْبِكَ إِسْرَائِيل!.» وكانَ أَبُوهُ وأُمُّهُ يَتَعَجَّبَانِ مِمَّا يُقَالُ فِيه. وبَارَكَهُمَا سِمْعَان، وقَالَ لِمَرْيَمَ أُمِّهِ: هَا إنَّ هذَا الطِّفْلَ قَدْ جُعِلَ لِسُقُوطِ ونُهُوضِ كَثِيرينَ في إِسْرَائِيل، وآيَةً لِلخِصَام. وأَنْتِ أَيْضًا، سَيَجُوزُ في نَفْسِكِ سَيْف، فتَنْجَلي خَفَايَا قُلُوبٍ كَثيرَة
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 2:22-40.
When the days were completed for their purification according to the law of Moses, Mary and Joseph took Jesus up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, just as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every male that opens the womb shall be consecrated to the Lord,” and to offer the sacrifice of “a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons,” in accordance with the dictate in the law of the Lord. Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Messiah of the Lord. He came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to him, he took him into his arms and blessed God, saying: Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in sight of all the peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.” The child’s father and mother were amazed at what was said about him; and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted (and you yourself a sword will pierce) so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived seven years with her husband after her marriage, and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple, but worshiped night and day with fasting and prayer. And coming forward at that very time, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were awaiting the redemption of Jerusalem. When they had fulfilled all the prescriptions of the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him.

دَنَتْ مِنهُ أُمُّ يَعْقُوبَ ويُوحَنَّا ٱبْنَي زَبَدَى، وهُمَا مَعَهَا، وسَجَدَتْ لَهُ تَلْتَمِسُ مِنْهُ حَاجَة. فقَالَ لَهَا: «مَاذَا تُرِيدِين؟». قَالَتْ لَهُ: «مُرْ أَنْ يَجْلِسَ ٱبْنَايَ هذَانِ في مَلَكُوتِكَ، واحِدٌ عَنْ يَمِيْنِكَ ووَاحِدٌ عَنْ يَسَارِكَ». فأَجَابَ يَسُوعُ وقَال: «إِنَّكُمَا لا تَعْلَمَانِ مَا تَطْلُبَان. هَلْ تَسْتَطِيْعَانِ أَنْ تَشْرَبَا الكَأْسَ الَّتي سَأَشْرَبُها أَنَا؟». قَالا لَهُ: «نَسْتَطِيْع!». فقَالَ لَهُمَا: «نَعَم، سَتَشْرَبَانِ كَأْسِي. أَمَّا الجُلُوسُ عَنْ يَمِيْنِي وعَنْ يَسَارِي، فَلَيْسَ لي أَنْ أَمْنَحَهُ إِلاَّ لِمَنْ أَعَدَّهُ لَهُم أَبي». ولَمَّا سَمِعَ العَشَرَةُ الآخَرُون، ٱغْتَاظُوا مِنَ الأَخَوَين. فَدَعَاهُم يَسُوعُ إِلَيْهِ وقَال: تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رُؤَسَاءَ الأُمَمِ يَسُودُونَهُم، وعُظَمَاءَهُم يَتَسَلَّطُونَ عَلَيْهِم، فلا يَكُنْ بَيْنَكُم هكَذَا. بَلْ مَنْ أَرادَ أَنْ يَكُونَ بَيْنَكُم عَظِيْمًا، فَلْيَكُنْ لَكُم خَادِمًا. ومَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَكُونَ الأَوَّلَ بَيْنَكُم، فَلْيَكُنْ لَكُم عَبْدًا، مِثْلَ ٱبْنِ الإِنْسَانِ الَّذي لَمْ يَأْتِ لِيُخْدَمَ بَلْ لِيَخْدُم، ويَبْذُلَ نَفْسَهُ فِدَاءً عَنْ كَثِيرِين

He departed from there and came to his native place, accompanied by his disciples. When the sabbath came he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astonished. They said, “Where did this man get all this? What kind of wisdom has been given him? What mighty deeds are wrought by his hands! Is he not the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him. Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and among his own kin and in his own house.” So he was not able to perform any mighty deed there, apart from curing a few sick people by laying his hands on them. He was amazed at their lack of faith. He went around to the villages in the vicinity teaching.
إنجيل القدّيس متّى 5-1:18
في تِلْكَ السَّاعَة، دَنَا التَّلامِيذُ مِنْ يَسُوعَ وقَالُوا: «مَنْ هُوَ الأَعْظَمُ في مَلَكُوتِ السَّمَاوَات؟».
فَدَعَا يَسُوعُ طِفْلاً، وأَقَامَهُ في وَسَطِهِم،
وقَال: أَلحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكُم: إِنْ لَمْ تَعُودُوا فَتَصِيرُوا مِثْلَ الأَطْفَال، لَنْ تَدْخُلُوا مَلَكُوتَ السَّمَاوَات.
فَمَنْ وَاضَعَ نَفْسَهُ مِثْلَ هذَا الطِّفْلِ هُوَ الأَعْظَمُ في مَلَكُوتِ السَّمَاوَات.
ومَنْ قَبِلَ بِٱسْمِي طِفْلاً وَاحِدًا مِثْلَ هذَا فَقَدْ قَبِلَني
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 5:21-43.
When Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered around him, and he stayed close to the sea.
One of the synagogue officials, named Jairus, came forward. Seeing him he fell at his feet
and pleaded earnestly with him, saying, “My daughter is at the point of death. Please, come lay your hands on her that she may get well and live.”
He went off with him, and a large crowd followed him and pressed upon him.
There was a woman afflicted with hemorrhages for twelve years.
She had suffered greatly at the hands of many doctors and had spent all that she had. Yet she was not helped but only grew worse.
She had heard about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak.
She said, “If I but touch his clothes, I shall be cured.”
Immediately her flow of blood dried up. She felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction.
Jesus, aware at once that power had gone out from him, turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who has touched my clothes?”
But his disciples said to him, “You see how the crowd is pressing upon you, and yet you ask, ‘Who touched me?’”
And he looked around to see who had done it.
The woman, realizing what had happened to her, approached in fear and trembling. She fell down before Jesus and told him the whole truth.
He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be cured of your affliction.”
While he was still speaking, people from the synagogue official’s house arrived and said, “Your daughter has died; why trouble the teacher any longer?”
Disregarding the message that was reported, Jesus said to the synagogue official, “Do not be afraid; just have faith.”
He did not allow anyone to accompany him inside except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James.
When they arrived at the house of the synagogue official, he caught sight of a commotion, people weeping and wailing loudly.
So he went in and said to them, “Why this commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but asleep.”
And they ridiculed him. Then he put them all out. He took along the child’s father and mother and those who were with him and entered the room where the child was.
He took the child by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise!”
The girl, a child of twelve, arose immediately and walked around. (At that) they were utterly astounded.
He gave strict orders that no one should know this and said that she should be given something to eat.
